Running the Boston Marathon to Make a Difference in Animals' Lives

"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself."   Josh Billings

Kara McInnis really believes that, so when the call came down for a runner to help animals, the Braintree resident stepped up in honor of her own two beloved boxers.  "Anyone who knows me knows my dogs are my life," says Kara, who juggles her "dog mom" responsibilities with her roles as wife, aunt, full-time Verizon employee, part-time bartender,  and long distance runner, all the while pursuing a Master's Degree in Education.

Why is she running the Boston Marathon in support of the Scituate Animals Shelter?   "Unfortunately, not all dogs are as spoiled as mine,"  she says, adding that our HELP program, which enables local seniors to keep the pets they might otherwise be forced to give up, is especially meaningful to her. "Without my dogs, my world would feel empty."
